PitStops can also be triggered to occur when a Patient arrives in the clinic for a specific Appointment (re-exam,
consultation, x-rays, etc). This allows for additional notification to the Patient and/or the Front Desk staff that
a specific, ‘special’ Appointment is scheduled. When this option is configured in conjunction with a Default
Care Schedule, it can also trigger Patients who are not regularly scheduling Appointments but are instead
‘walking in’ to the clinic, unscheduled. The benefit being, these types of Patients can be ensured regular re exams and continued care.

Setup > Initial Setup > System Settings

In the System Settings, click the PITSTOP tab to access the Appointment Type PitStop options.

Each Provider in Atlas can have uniquely configured Appointment PitStop messages. As such, if you
configure a message for ‘Re-Exam’, you must associate that message with each Provider as needed.

To Configure and Associate: First you must create the Message Type (Template) for use when the
PitStop is triggered.
Click on the Message Type button and configure as outlined in the section ‘PitStop Message Types’.
Once the Message Type is configured use the drop down menu to select the Message for each
Appointment Type.
It is recommended NOT to create PitStops for each Appointment Type  – but to reserve it for only
‘special’ Appointments.

The system must be restarted before configured Appointment Type PitStops will trigger.
The Appointment Type PitStops will automatically trigger when the Patient arrives for a scheduled
Appointment.
